The general types of services provided by AVREC include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, radiology, laboratory evaluations, intensive medical care and consultation with the referral practitioners and/or specialists as the patient requires. The surgeries that can be performed include simple to complex laceration repair, C-sections, gastrointestinal surgeries (GDV, removal of intestinal foreign bodies), and abdominal surgeries (exploratories, splenectomies). Internal medicine provides treatment for complicated disorders of the stomach and intestines, kidneys, liver and endocrine system. Cancer care/chemotherapy and I-131 treatment for feline hyperthyroidism are also available. For laboratory evaluations, AVREC can provide in-house results for routine blood work or we can utilize several diagnostic laboratories in the area and around the country in order to provide the most appropriate work-up for each patient. The intensive care procedures that can be provided include blood transfusions, oxygen therapy and ventilator assistance, electrocardiograms, blood pressure monitoring, fracture stabilization, correction of urinary blockage, and poison control.
